East Idaho Underground House Music: Building a New Path

I am at a point where I need to define what I am doing with my DJ career, Atlantic Progression, and my role in the East Idaho underground house music scene. This direction is based on time spent working in the community and understanding where my work fits.

I have been active long enough to develop a perspective. That perspective is shaping the decisions I am making going forward.

The Current State of the East Idaho EDM Scene

The East Idaho EDM scene is small and concentrated. Most of the activity centers around bass music, including dubstep and related styles. That scene has been built over time by a group of DJs who have established their presence.

My work does not align with that structure. My focus is underground house music and deeper electronic styles. That difference affects how I approach events, audiences, and long-term development.

Scenes are built around shared direction. When that direction does not match, it limits how effective someone can be within that space.

Defining a Direction for East Idaho Underground House Music

East Idaho underground house music does not have a clearly defined space. That creates an opportunity to build something intentional.

I am focusing on developing a separate ecosystem that supports the type of music I produce and perform. This decision is based on compatibility and long-term sustainability.

The goal is to build something that has its own identity and consistency within the local area.

Changes to My DJ Career After 2026

Starting in 2027, I will no longer be booking weddings. That decision allows me to shift my time toward family and toward building something more focused within the local music community.

This also changes how I approach DJing. I am reducing reliance on traditional gig structures and focusing on smaller, controlled environments.

Building Underground House Parties in East Idaho

The primary focus moving forward is a series of small, curated underground house parties.

Structure of the Events

These gatherings will be limited in size and scope.

  • Maximum attendance of 75 people
  • Most events limited to around 50 attendees
  • 21 and over requirement
  • Invitation-based participation

These are community-focused parties designed to create a consistent and controlled environment.

Focus on Community

These events are built around connection. Revenue is not the primary driver.

The emphasis remains on:

  • Music quality
  • Social connection
  • Consistent experience
  • Limitations of Traditional Venues

Standard venues come with increasing costs and restrictions. These limitations affect both artists and attendees.

Operating outside of traditional venues allows control over:

  • Sound systems
  • Event layout
  • Attendance size
  • Overall atmosphere

Long-Term Development of the Scene

The goal is to build a sustainable underground house music scene in East Idaho.

Establishing a Core Group

A consistent group of attendees forms the foundation. These individuals support events and contribute to the culture.

Maintaining Consistency

Consistency in music, structure, and expectations builds trust and engagement.

Gradual Expansion

Expansion will happen when the foundation is stable. This may include larger events, guest artists, and increased production.

The Role of Atlantic Progression

Atlantic Progression continues to grow as a label and plays a key role in this direction.

The label has recently secured distribution through Proton, which strengthens its position and expands its reach. New artists have been signed, and upcoming releases are already scheduled.

The next release on Atlantic Progression is “Walking Alone” by Ricco Sakona, with a remix by Da Syk. Additional releases are lined up in the following months, with a consistent pipeline of music being developed.

This growth supports the broader goal of building a local scene that connects recorded music with live experiences.

Upcoming Releases and Music Activity

There are multiple releases scheduled across different labels.

In May, a remix of mine will be released on RH Music. In June, another remix is scheduled through Prognosis. In July, a collaboration with Oddball Savage will be released on Critical Elements. Keep an eye out for those.

Additional releases are planned under Atlantic Progression, along with future projects tied to other labels.

Recent independent releases include “Among His Own P30Ple” and “What If This Doesn’t Work.” These tracks are available through Bandcamp, with ongoing engagement tied to listener activity.

These releases contribute to the overall direction by maintaining a consistent output of music while the local scene develops.

Continued Community Involvement

I will continue hosting Open Deck Night at The Heart. This event provides opportunities for newer DJs and maintains a connection to the broader community.

This remains an important part of how I stay involved at the local level.

Participation and Access

Participation in these underground house parties will be managed through direct communication.

If you are in East Idaho and want to be involved, send me your email. This allows coordination for upcoming events and helps build the network behind these gatherings.

Access to individual events will depend on capacity and availability.

Final Direction for East Idaho Underground House Music

The direction is based on smaller gatherings, controlled growth, and a focus on community.

This approach supports long-term sustainability and creates an environment aligned with the music and culture I am building.

Let’s see what happens…
