Chad Russell, known by his stage name The Idahoan, is a multi-talented artist hailing from Idaho Falls, ID. Since embarking on his DJing journey in 2019, Chad has become a cornerstone of the local DJ and music scene. Active in various local EDM Nights, open deck nights, and other events, Chad’s influence extends far beyond his hometown.
Chad has been DJing since 2019 and quickly integrated himself into the vibrant local music community. An active presence on Mixcloud since 2018 and a pioneer in live streaming on Mixcloud since 2020.
Chad’s dedication and talent have earned him the opportunity to open for renowned acts such as ill.GATES (live), Minnesota (live), Robert Babicz (online), Darin Epsilon (online), Discognition (live and online), Framewerk (online), Maryer (Online), Chris Cargo (online) and many others. Chad has performed at festivals such as Konnexion Music Festival (Horseshoe Bend, ID) and Welcome To The Oasis (Mountain Home, ID). As a resident DJ and co-owner of Atlantic Progression, an independent label and a collective of DJs from the UK and US, Chad performs monthly online live streams and books major headliner DJ/producers for performances on Mixcloud and Twitch. Chad has performed all over the state of Idaho and is becoming a household name among the Idaho house music community.
With over 800 DJ sets uploaded to Mixcloud and over 200 to YouTube, Chad has amassed over 1,400 followers on Mixcloud and over 4,000 followers on Facebook where he is extremely active. He was a co-host to a bi-monthly EDM and Open Deck Night at The Gem, providing a platform for aspiring DJs to hone their skills. Currently, he is involved in planning and promoting annual events at The Gem such as The Awakening, Slime Pit, Gem State, and Till Death Do Us Part. Chad also holds online radio residencies on Raverholics Radio and Atlantic Progression, performing weekly and monthly live stream shows.
Chad’s commitment to giving back is evident through his involvement in various online live stream charity fundraisers, raising over $3,000 for autism awareness and $1000 for Children International, children’s cancer research, and local medical care charities. Chad plans and executes at least 2 charity fundraising events annually that involves dozens of DJs from all over the planet.
Chad is currently focused on producing dance music and has been signed by independent record labels all over the world. His first release, “Inflexible,” a collaboration with Oddball Savage on RH Music Records, charted as high #10 in Beatport’s top 10 Progressive House tracks in January 2024. In May 2025, Chad’s Wasted Thoughts EP was released on Prognosis and enjoyed charting positions as high as #4 and #5 on Beatport’s Electronica Hype 100 chart and #6 on the Progressive House Hype 100 chart. In September 2025, Chad’s remix of Chris Coles’ The Dissent peaked at #4 in the Beatport Electronica HypeTop10 as well as #34 the Progressive House HypeTop100.

As one of the most notable house DJs in East Idaho, especially for progressive house music, Chad stands out not only for his talent but also for his unique journey. Starting his DJ career in his late thirties, Chad’s story is one of perseverance, dedication, and passion. Known as “that old dude who is still raving,” his reputation extends as far as Denver, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, Boise, ID, and beyond.
More Than Just A DJ/Producer
An extroverted and friendly personality, Chad is adept at making connections and engaging audiences. A Marine Corps veteran with two Associate Degrees in Automotive and Diesel Technology from the College of Eastern Idaho and a professional diploma from The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences, Chad brings a wealth of life experience to his music.
Chad is also a skilled oil painter, preferring to paint using the wet-on-wet technique, completely learned from watching hundreds of hours of Bob Ross. His paintings can be found hung on walls around the world in homes and businesses of people who have won his paintings in raffles. Chad often live streams his DJ sets while painting at the same time.
Chad lives in Idaho Falls with his wife Christy and their two children, Tallia and Carter.
