My 2025 resolution, as an event promoter, is to improve my “artists come first” philosophy. Yes, I know that it’s the paying fans who are the real backbone of the community. But fans need music and artists to be fans of. Otherwise, they ain’t fans, let alone paying fans.
From 2025 onwards, I will make it my mission and promise to pay each and every one of my booked artists a fair and reasonable fee for their services. If I can’t pay you, I won’t book you.
I have only put on one big show to date where I wasn’t able to pay my DJs at least a few dollars (it was the July 4th, 2024 charity live stream). Since then, I have been able to secure funding for my DJs before I book them. And I intend to continue to do so going forward.
I don’t know about most of y’all, but, 2024 was a bit rough for my family and me, financially speaking. No matter where any of us go or what any of us do these days, there are never ending attempts to separate us from our dwindling supply of money. Shit is still expensive. Nobody is lowering prices on anything. It just never fucking ends.
I know how hard I have worked to get to where I am now. Many of you DJs here in this community have been doing your craft for WAY LONGER than I have. And, a few of you are good enough to be headlining shows here. We have major talent in east Idaho.
So, who am I to expect you to play at my shows for free?
Nope. Screw that bullshit. You will never have to worry about not getting paid at any of my shows. I won’t even plan the show until I know how I’m going to pay you.
Anyway, let’s hit the ground running in 2025. I have no less than four shows planned for 2025 and I’m going to be booking many of you. Two of those shows are already planned and the lineups completed. In other words, I already have the money saved up that I will be using to pay all of the DJs I have booked so far. And I’m currently working on earning the money needed to book DJs for the other two events.
I want ALL of us to succeed in 2025. And success has always included being fairly recognized and compensated for your professional services. You all deserve it.
