I just wrapped up a five-hour wedding reception for Kristen and Gray at The Virginian Lodge in Jackson, Wyoming. I didn’t handle their ceremony—just the reception—but this one deserves a little recap.
Let me start by giving a massive shoutout to Emily Claassen and her crew at Event Planners of Jackson Hole. I’ve worked with Emily for years now, and she’s one of the most organized, professional, and down-to-earth coordinators in the game. She always makes my job easier, and her team nailed it again this time.

The Vibe: Western, Warm, and Straightforward
The Virginian is what you’d expect from a true Wyoming venue—Western charm, rustic class, and a touch of saloon energy. Kristen and Gray’s wedding fit the space perfectly. About 50 guests total—maybe 60 tops. It was intimate, relaxed, and beautifully styled.

Clean. Elegant. Every detail felt intentional and personal. The floral arrangements were tasteful and on-theme with the rustic Western vibe. Think boots, hats, denim, and a whole lotta charm.
Dinner, Drinks, and Damn Good Music
Dinner slapped. We’re talking brisket, pulled pork, and green chili mac and cheese—straight-up comfort food perfection. Pretty sure the catering was handled in-house by The Virginian, and they crushed it. Props to the kitchen staff and every single server. Super kind, super professional.
As for the music—this was a strictly classic country crowd. No pop-country. No hip hop. No exceptions. I accidentally played a version of a requested song that had a short rap verse, and I was politely but firmly told that wasn’t gonna fly. I switched it over fast, and the crowd was back in it immediately. Good thing I was able to recover quickly… 😬
Packed Floor, All Night Long
Kristen and Gray handed me a goldmine of a request list. Every track they picked was a hit—stuff that got people dancing, singing, and clapping along. The dance floor was full pretty much the entire night.
The guests? Friendly as hell. A few got a little tipsy, but there wasn’t a single moment of chaos. No gear damage, no weird requests (actually, maybe a couple *caugh Baha Men caugh*), just a bunch of respectful, good-timing folks. Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better group of slightly inebriated cowboys and cowgirls.
Final Thoughts
This was one of those gigs that reminds me why I keep saying yes to weddings—especially the ones out here in the mountains. Beautiful scenery. Grateful couples. Great food. Western boots stomping to every beat I throw their way.
To Kristen and Gray: thank you for trusting me with your big day. Your friends and family were a blast, and I genuinely hope your marriage is filled with as much joy as your reception was. It was my honor to be part of it.
